Public Contributor Induction Session

The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health will hold the next Induction Session for new and existing Public Contributors in April 2020. 

The Induction, hosted by Dr Stephanie Snow, Academic Lead for Community Engagement and Involvement will cover all aspects of being a public contributor within the Faculty including presentations from a public contributor, researcher, and lecturer. The presentations will provide attendees with information regarding Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and the role of a Public Contributor within that area.  You will also have the option to attend a social media training course run by a member of the Faculty's digital marketing team after the session. Public Contributors will receive £10 towards travel expenses, however if you require more in order for you to attend the session please contact srbmh@manchester.ac.uk by 23rd March.

What is a Public Contributor?

A Public Contributor is the term used to describe a member of the public who is involved and engaged in our research and teaching.

Who is the Induction Session for?

The Induction Session is for both new and experienced Public Contributors who are involved with the Faculty of Biology and Health. The session is not for members of staff.  

What is the aim of the session?

The aim of the Induction Session is to provide attendees with key information about the Faculty and their role as a Public Contributor.

What will be included in the Induction Session programme?

The Induction Session will include presentations from a Researcher, Lecturer, Public Contributor and members of the Social Responsibility and Public Engagement Team. You will also have the option to stay for a social media training session to find out tips for how to use it effectively to communicate about your Patient and Public Involvement Engagement.

Will lunch be provided?

A sandwich lunch will be provided.  If you have any dietary requirements please contact srbmh@manchester.ac.uk. Vegetarians will automatically be catered for.

Will I receive payment for attending the session?

We will provide Public Contributors with £10 towards travel expenses, if you require more in order for you to attend the session please contact srbmh@manchester.ac.uk by 23rd March. Unfortunately you won't receive any payment for your time.

What if i can't attend this session?

We will be running two sessions per year so if you are unable to attend this session please contact srbmh@manchester.ac.uk and ask to be added to the mailing list.

Hosted by a member of the Faculty’s Digital Social Media team. During this session you will learn about the basic principles of Twitter and learn tips including what you can and can’t tweet.
