About this event

The Centre for Consultation is exploring the potential for a new set of standards that raise the quality, transparency, and impact of consultation across the UK. To shape these standards, we are hosting a series of roundtables with key voices in the consultation process: public bodies, delivery consultancies, and members of the public.

Each roundtable provides a space for open discussion, honest reflection, and collaborative input into what good consultation should look like in practice. Your perspectives will help us ensure that if standards are required, that they are meaningful, realistic, and trusted by all who use them.

Frequently asked questions

Who should attend?

This roundtable is designed for those working in the public sector. You may be a legal adviser, a service lead, a communications professional, or engagement practitioner - all perspectives are very welcome.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No preparation is needed. Just bring your experiences, views, and ideas and be willing to contribute to the session.

Is there a cost to attend?

No we are a cooperative supporting the sector.

How long will the session last?

Each roundtable will run for approximately 90 minutes.

Will the discussion be recorded?

We may take notes for research purposes, but the roundtables will not be publicly recorded. Contributions will be anonymised in any reporting.

Can I attend more than one roundtable?

No - we are looking for specific perspectives from different types of people involved - this one is particularly about your role as a public service professional.

How will my input be used?

Our survey collects detailed views on whether consultation standards are needed, why, and what might be missing from our draft. The roundtable is a dialogue on the role of engagement and co-production in consultation exercises, and whether there should be a standard for this.
