Puppeteering Performance Workshop
A playful, hands-on puppetry performance workshop for theatre makers, actors, performers, and anyone curious. Delivered by Ruth Welch
Led by Ruth Welch
1.5 hours | 18+
A playful, hands-on puppetry performance workshop for theatre makers, actors, performers, and anyone curious about developing a new creative skill.
What makes an object feel alive?
In this practical session, participants will explore the core techniques puppeteers use to animate objects and give them presence, intention, and emotional weight. Working with found materials and everyday objects, we’ll investigate movement, breath, focus, and rhythm, discovering how the smallest shift can transform the ordinary into an expressive character.
Led by theatre-maker and puppeteer Ruth Welch, the workshop is exploratory and accessible, welcoming complete beginners alongside experienced creatives. Through guided exercises and creative play, participants will gain practical tools that can be applied to performance-making, rehearsal processes, facilitation, education, or personal creative practice.
No previous puppetry experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
This workshop is for ages 18+.
Tickets have been subsidised by The Old Courts and are just £5 per person.
