Putney to Barnes Walk
Following the course of the Boat Race, an almost entirely traffic free walk encountering boat houses, riverside pubs and much more.
Starting at Putney Bridge, this is a walk almost entirely free of traffic, our route follows the Thames Path both north and south of the river as we explore a world of boat houses and clubs, riverside pubs and striking architecture.
Having good communications with London from an early time, this part of the capital became a popular country retreat from the 15th Century onwards and as London continued to grow in the late 19th and early 20th centuries then the population of this area significantly expanded.
This is a pleasant riverside walk with ample opportunity to stop for refreshments and to watch the world go by.
