Come along to this 5 day hands on workshop presented by Dr Stephen Lynch. Stephen is a world leader in the use of mathematics packages in teaching, learning, assessment, research and employability.

This MMU workshop has developed from a series of mathematics lectures to undergraduates and from both national and international Python and TensorFlow workshops.


Python for Scientific Computing : May 17th – 19th 2021

TensorFlow for Artificial Intelligence: May 20th – 21st 2021

Who will benefit from this programme?

This workshop is designed for anyone in the engineering, computing and scientific community who wants to learn how to use Python for Scientific Computing and TensorFlow for Artificial Intelligence.

Students, Staff, PhD Students, Technicians, Graduates are all welcome to attend!

No prior knowledge of Python or programming is necessary to benefit from this workshop. The emphasis is on practical applications based on hands-on tutorials using Python and TensorFlow. The emphasis is not on the mathematical theory.

The workshop will cover:

  • Programing Python using IDLE, Spyder, and Jupyter and Google Colab notebooks
  • Modelling both continuous and discrete dynamical  systems
  • Modelling in engineering, computing, biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics
  • How the brain works relating to artificial intelligence
  • Programing deep neural networks In Google Colab with TensorFlow
