Due to the nature of the event we have limited spaces please book your ticket to attend. <h3>Queer Check-in Guidelines: </h3>Please read ALL the guidelines before joining the check-in. Feel free to message @heyiampolls if you have any questions. <h3></h3>Confidentially is part of the check-in. All that is shared should stay in the session. An object usually called “Talisman” goes from person to person that grants the right of the holder to share.The person with the talisman is invited to share with the group. Once they have decided to stop their sharing, the talisman will wander to the person next to them.A sharing can take on any form, verbal or nonverbal and in any language. People are invited to be vulnerable, honest and share whatever it is they are feeling. Some people may find that singing or just making a sound is the most authentic way of expressing their truth.There should not be commenting or discussing of what other people have shared. One should not build on what other people have said.People listening should not comment or interrupt a sharing. There are however ways to show appreciation towards what resonates, such as clicking fingers or doing a “ssss” sound.A sharing should not be about another person. Instead people are invited to form sentences beginning “I feel/I am/I have/In my heart…”. Always speak from the "I". A sharing can go on for as long as the talisman is held. As long as the person holds the talisman they have the right to share. It might take people a few sentences to truly hear what their heart is saying.A sharing is voluntary. You can just be a witness to the space - a sharer can remain silent or choose to just pass on the talisman as soon as they get it.Some details are up to the individual facilitation of the Check-in and might differ.Sometimes a theme may develop but just as often there may not be any theme.Although a check-in is not formalised therapy, the sharing, witnessing and being witnessed can be incredibly healing and transformative for each individual.⚠️ Check-ins are a place for peer support, sharing, listening. This is NOT a replacement for therapy, please respect the intention of the space. ⚠️ Each heart circle has a defined start and end time and it is important for you to be there at the start so as to be a part of the “flow” and process. ⚠️Feel free to arrive early to meet and interact with others. ⚠️If you arrive late but still want to join, please do so quietly not to interrupt the group.⚠️ All Check-ins have a facilitator to help, guide and offer people further support if needed. They can be approached at any time if you would like support outside the Check-ins.⚠️Check-ins are not a formalised therapy, it is a group session, everyone is encouraged to express themselves individually but we must balance that with the needs of the group as a whole. Therefore we ask that people be aware of sensitive content when sharing, as one person’s trauma may be someone else’s trigger. Any trigger warnings and content warnings must be said before speaking about them, so we can gage if it's okay with all participants. Your facilitator @heyiampollsWellbeing lead @mi.weston
