SQIFF (Scottish Queer International Film Festival) is an annual event based in Glasgow screening films by, for, and about LGBTQ+ communities. Our goal is to get people watching, talking about, and making more queer films. We want to screen movies that people might not otherwise get a chance to see and to create inspiring and informative events alongside challenging inequalities and barriers to accessing the arts.Seewww.sqiff.orgfor more details!

Scottish Queer International Film Festival

“Good Kenyan girls become good Kenyan wives,” but Kena and Ziki long for something more. Despite the political rivalry between their families, the girls resist and remain close friends, supporting each other to pursue their dreams in a conservative society. When love blossoms between them, the two girls will be forced to choose between happiness and safety. Rafiki made international news after being banned by the Kenya Film Classification Board for its homosexual theme and promotion of lesbianism. Director Wanuri Kahiu subsequently sued the Kenyan government. The ban was lifted and the film was screened to sell-out crowds in Nairobi.
Tickets are priced on a sliding scale £0-£8 depending on what you can afford. 
While pre-sale tickets are sold out, if you are still interested swing by The Space at 16.15 for tickets on the door. 
ACCESS
Film is in a Swahili and English languages with English language subtitles and captions.
Large print versions of handouts available.

We have a limited travel fund to assist people to come to the Festival for those who could not otherwise afford to attend. If you would like to apply for this, please contact <A HREF="mailto:access@sqiff.org" TARGET="_blank" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">access@sqiff.org</A>.
Tickets
In order to make SQIFF more accessible to those on a low income, we use a sliding scale ticket price of £0-£8 for our events. You can choose what you pay based on your circumstances - you won't be asked for any proof / ID, we just ask that you are honest! Our ticket sales go towards supporting the vital work of LGBTQ+ filmmakers, artists and organisers.
