Ramadan Art Workshop: Illumination & Biomorphic Pattern with Paint Making

Ramadan Art Workshop: Illumination & Biomorphic Pattern with Paint Making

Overview

Discover the timeless world of traditional art as we discover a 14th-century Quran and recreate a pattern from it alongside paint making

Join artist Munise for a reflective Ramadan art workshop inspired by the illuminated opening pages of a 14th-century Qur’an manuscript. This session focuses on gold illumination.

Participants will be introduced to the history of natural pigments and gold in manuscript traditions, and will learn how to make their own gold lustre paint. Using this handmade paint, you will create a biomorphic illuminated side medallion inspired by Qur’anic opening pages.

The workshop emphasises slow, contemplative making and does not include calligraphy. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is required.

This session is suitable for all levels and is designed to be gentle, reflective, and welcoming during the month of Ramadan.

📅 Dates & Times:
