CultureMix Arts is a not for profit carnival music and arts company specialising in combining business skills development with creative learning. The CultureMix Arts & Music Centre is based in central Reading, Berkshire and is home to RASPO Steel Orchestra, The Reading Reggae Collective, the schools music education programme, and the Creative Business Hub.

SATURDAY 21 OCTOBER 2023 6.30pm-8.30pm RASPO Showcase is a Black History Month event celebrating the 75th Windrush Anniversary and 20 years since CultureMix Arts was set up.From humble beginnings at the Central Club home to the iconic Black History Mural, Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra came into existence in 1997, named in honour of TASPO - Trinidad All Steel Percussion Orchestra who was the first steel band to perform live in the UK at the South Bank's 1951 Festival of Britain. RASPO went on to perform live on TV including for BBC Children in Need and Blue Peter, for ITV's Rosie and Jim. The orchestra is now an award winning outfit with a many prestigious performances of note from appearing at the London 2012 Olympics, and at The Royal Albert Hall to taking part in the London Notting Hill Carnival procession of floats.Award winner RASPO is now established as one of the UK's leading steel bands introducing thousands of children and young people to the joy of playing in an orchestra through the school programme and providing steel bands for a range of events.We invite you to join RASPO at the CultureMix Arts &amp; Music Centre to celebrate the positive contribution the Windrush generation has made to British cultural life.Tickets £5.
