Metadata & Discovery Group in Scotland

The Cataloguing & Indexing Group in Scotland, in conjunction with the UK Committee on RDA (UKCoR), is delighted to present the first in a series of two RDA Orientation Workshops.
This all day event will follow a part seminar, part practical workshop format. Presentations by Alan Danskin from the British Library and Gordon Dunsire from the RDA Steering Committee, will prepare delegates for the practical hands-on sessions. 
The practical element will involve delegates using <A HREF="https://www.marcofquality.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">RIMMF </A>(RDA in Many Metadata Formats) to explore use of elements and concepts from the RDA beta Toolkit. The aim of the day is to put the RDA theory into practice in a non-MARC environment. It will also introduce delegates to the implications of the toolkit restructure and redesign project (3R) and the Library Reference Model (<A HREF="https://www.ifla.org/publications/node/11412" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">LRM</A>) 
Due to the practical nature of this workshop, delegates are asked to bring their own laptops. Further information for delegates will  be provided following registration, include RIMMF 4 installation details. In addition to Alan and Gordon, Jenny Wright (BDS) and Thurstan Young (British Library), will help facilitate and support delegates in the practical sessions. 
A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.
