RDC forms: An overview for PhD supervisors

The Research Degrees Committee at GCU advises the following:New supervisors with no previous completionsshould attend theHow to be an Effective Supervisorseries of 4 half-day workshops prior to submission of the student’s RDC1 form. If this is not feasible, supervisors should attend the workshops within 6 months of submission of the RDC1 form. This training series must be completed before submission of the student’s RDC2 form.Experienced supervisors (with 1 or more completions)should attend a minimum of1 refresher training workshop every 2 years. Experienced supervisors can attendany refresher workshop sessionfrom the supervisor training courses on offer.The full supervisor workshop series is run twice each academic year - course dates are planned in the summer and posted to this page prior to the start of Trimester A.

RDC forms: An overview for PhD supervisors
This 90 minute workshop by Dr Suzanne Hagan (HLS Postgraduate research tutor) will include a review of the various RDC form processes as part of the PhD journey. This will include from RDC1 through to thesis submission and will include a short talk by Dr Amy Cartwright on the important RDC2 process. 
Objectives 
At the end of the session supervisors will know: •  Who to contact (key personnel) •  What the bureaucratic process is •  Where to find the resources they need e.g. RDC forms •  How to access support for their supervisory journey  
This workshop will be facilitated by Dr Suzanne Hagan, Lecturer in Vision Sciences, SHLS and Dr Amy Cartwright, Deputy Director of the Graduate School. 
Please note - This workshop counts as a refresher training session for experienced supervisors. Experienced supervisors (with 1 or more completions) should attend a minimum of 1 refresher training session every 2 years.
