Re-stitch. Re-style. Reuseolution - Upcycling Workshop

The Springfield ProjectMoseley, West Midlands
Tuesday, Jan 13, 2026 from 12 pm to 3 pm GMT
Overview

Transform a pre-loved shawl into a wearable Desi-style jacket. Led by Rukhsana from Ecoraa recently featured on BBC1’s Make It at Market!

Re-stitch. Re-style. Reuseolution is a creative, welcoming upcycling session that shows just how easy it can be to turn something old into something wearable.

Working with pre-loved shawl fabrics, you’ll learn how to hand-make a simple, throw-on Desi jacket that fits most sizes — all in just a few hours using basic hand-sewing techniques. No previous sewing experience is needed.

This workshop is about slowing down, valuing what we already have, and enjoying the process of making — with good conversation, tea, and creativity.

👗 Led by Rukshana from Ecoraa

The session is led by Rukshana, founder of Ecoraa, who was recently featured on BBC1’s Make It at Market.

After working in fast fashion for decades, Rukshana became increasingly concerned about the amount of textile waste created by garments worn only a few times. Her approach to fashion focuses on sustainability, longevity and emotional connection.

🧵 What You’ll Do

• Learn how to create a Desi-style jacket from a shawl

• Use simple hand-sewing techniques

• Gain confidence to repair and upcycle at home

• Spend a creative afternoon with others in your community

👥 Who Is This Workshop For?
