How high can we build? What are the new technologies that might see our skyscrapers go beyond anything we ever imagined? What creativity and drive is needed to push engineering forward? 
Roma Agrawal will delve into the history of the materials that enabled immense construction, particularly concrete and steel, and the developments that made our structures what they are today. All while noting the accomplishments of key visionary engineers - Henry Bessemer, Fazlur Khan and Elisha Otis.
Join award-winning structural engineer and author  Roma Agrawal as she explores the key milestones that to the skyscrapers that dominate the London skyline.

This event is part of our 'Ri Patrons present' series. With the support of the Ri Patron community, we are pleased to present this monthly series of fascinating events bringing together science and society. Following the event, Ri Patrons have the opportunity to meet the speakers and learn more about their research.

The doors will open at approximately 6.30pm, with a prompt start at 7.00pm. There will be time for questions after the talk.
Latecomers will be admitted to the gallery.
