A day of discussion, performance and food, exploring cultural spaces for South Asian communities, from Bhangra daytime raves to Bengali folk.

We’re excited to announce that on the 16th August 2025, we’ll be hosting ‘Reclaiming Joy: A Legacy of Third Spaces’. This event is designed as a celebration, a conversation, and a call to action.
We’ll be exploring the day discos of the 1980s and 1990s among South Asian youth at the time and thinking about what made these third spaces so significant, what third spaces exist – or don’t - for South Asian communities today, and how they are being shaped. There will be a panel discussion, performances across traditional and contemporary South Asian art forms, and a DJ set to finish for a good Saturday knees up in the spirit of the daytime parties.
We’ll be providing free lunch and refreshments so come along to join the conversation and celebrate with us. This is a free event.
