In today's digital landscape, identity-based disinformation (IBD) represents one of the most insidious threats to social cohesion and democratic values. Traditional counter-narrative approaches often fail or even backfire when confronting this sophisticated form of manipulation.

This intensive one-day workshop equips participants with powerful, evidence-based strategies to respond effectively to IBD through "equal alternative narratives" - positive content that fulfills the same psychological needs that disinformation exploits, but in healthy, inclusive ways.

Join experts including Anna Kruglova, Jon Wilson and Bruce White, as we unpack the psychological and cultural mechanics of identity-based manipulation and demonstrate why extremist messaging can be so compelling.

Rather than directly confronting harmful narratives (which often strengthens them), participants will learn methods to craft positive alternatives that expand identity options and build community resilience.

Through expert presentations and hands-on scenario-based group work, we’ll tackle simulated disinformation campaigns (including jihadist, far-right, and misogyny-driven content) with guidance from subject matter specialists.

There’ll be a focus on the Organisation for Identity and Cultural Development's (OICD) systematic approach to analyzing disinformation and collaboratively designing robust alternative narrative strategies that can be implemented in your own context.
