Refugee & Migrant Data Workshop
Date and time
Location
Voluntary Action Islington
200A Pentonville Rd Kings Cross London N1 9JP United KingdomDescription
This is a half day introductory data workshop, open to all groups working with refugees and migrants in London.
The gathering and sharing of data is a big issue within immigration. How data is collected and stored and who has control of it are issues that impact on how refugees and migrants are treated by authorities, as well as how they are viewed.
We'll present findings from a recent Data Needs Survey which you can complete here - deadline extended to Fri 1st March, and discuss how organistions can develop their data systems. We'll look at qualitative vs quantitative data, how to improve data collection, tools to help you analyse and present your data, consistency of data sets, the application of data for social policy and the politics and ethics of data collection and sharing in the sector.
This workshop launches a 6 month programme of support to refugee and migrant organistions by DataKind UK, Superhighways and freelance consultant Rita Chadha, who is also a voluntary sector representative on the London Strategic Migration Partnership. This project will support those working with refugee and migrant communities to develop their data systems as well as help us all understand better what more can be done to help organisations make their case to policy makers and funders and will include further data related training opportunities, 1:1 mentoring and development of briefing papers.
Attendees will be able to register interest for these opportunities and highlight any specific needs.
Please find further information about the venue here.
