About this event

Background

Accurate assessments of natural capital are essential to manage nature so that it continues to deliver the benefits on which the economy and society rely. There are considerable data and evidence gaps which are preventing us from assessing the quantity, quality and location of natural capital and its ability to deliver goods and services that benefit people. Earth observation data (e.g. from satellites & drones) can play a vital role. However, our ability to derive information from these data is constrained by a lack of suitable ground-based observations and perhaps a lack of understanding of the needs of each of these monitoring communities. This workshop will bring EO and ground-based monitoring specialists together to identify the key evidence gaps and to explore novel ways to enhance environmental monitoring and natural capital assessments.

Meeting Objectives

● Identify and explore areas where integrating Earth Observation data can enhance environmental monitoring for use in natural capital assessments.

● Identify current ground-based monitoring activity with potential to support enhanced EO-products.

● Facilitate the development of new project proposals which combine Earth Observation data with field data for natural capital monitoring.

● Build connections between ground and satellite-based monitoring specialists, policy and practice, leading to better environmental information for decisions.

Registration is required

This is a crucial meeting to shape future decisions regarding integrated monitoring where we can work together to support policy. If you are a specialist in field monitoring & data collection, earth observation techniques, or a natural capital expert, your expertise will be invaluable. There are limited spaces, so registration is required. We’ll keep you informed about any updates, whether it’s a confirmation of your attendance or if you’ve been added to the waiting list.
