A night of short films representing the BAME + LGBTQIA+ communities

Above The Line presents REPRESENT ME ....in collaberation with local filmmakers Lissi Simpson and Zak Wundowa. We are thrilled to be hosting this showcase event on Thursday 19th August, where we will be selecting 5 short films from local LGBTQIA+ or Black/Mixed Black filmmakers within the North West area that show representation of these communities. A Q+A will follow these screenings and will be a wonderful opportunity for us to come together to talk about the films we have watched and how the medium of film can be the most powerful tool in bringing about growth and understanding from not just within but also the wider world. Then, please join us on Sunday 22nd August for a very special double screening of MOONLIGHT (2016) + KEYBOARD FANTASIES(2019). MOONLIGHT (2016) Chiron, a young African-American boy, finds guidance in Juan, a drug dealer, who teaches him to carve his own path. As he grows up in Miami, Juan&#x27;s advice leaves a lasting impression on him.KEYBOARD FANTASIES: The Beverly Glenn-Copeland Story (2019) We are delighted to be previewing Keyboard Fantasies: The Beverly Glenn-Copeland Story. The film sees the protagonist commit his life and music to screen for the first time - an intimate coming of age story spinning pain and the suffering of prejudice into rhythm, hope and joy. A timely lullaby to soothe those souls struggling to make sense of the world.We will be announcing the line up for Thursday&#x27;s showcase shortly but in the meantime reserve your FREE seat today to ensure you don&#x27;t miss out!
