How do objects tell stories of the movement of people in the 21st century? What do we collect and how? What should we collect and why?  

National Museums Scotland, in partnership with Dr Emma Bond, University of St Andrews, are hosting an online symposium exploring the representation of modern migration in museums. Speakers from museums in Scotland and across Europe will discuss good practice in collecting and displaying objects that represent the movement of people and experiences of migrants in the 21st century. Topics will include the relationship between contemporary collecting and community engagement, collections and displays linking historic migration to contemporary stories, and the collecting of both physical and digital objects.
