How the workshop will be delivered?

The usage of Python will be demonstrated within the Jupyter Notebook as the coding environment, one of many applications available through the Anaconda Navigator. The first two hours will concentrate on the basics of coding, with the last two on Python project workflow.

Who is the instructor?

Dr. Danai Korre is a lecturer in computer science at the School of Computer Science and Technology, University of Bedfordshire, and an experienced and published CS researcher. Danai has a long track record of teaching a variety of subjects, chief being coding languages for data analysis.

Who can attend the workshop?

This workshop is intended primarily for UK audience, specifically students, researchers and employees within the social sciences. During the registration you will be asked to provide a valid affiliation and affiliation-associated email.

Are there any skill or software requirements?

Accepted Answer

No prior knowledge of Python is needed to participate; however, the installation of Anaconda Navigator is recommended to take the most out of the workshop: https://www.anaconda.com/download/success . See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxQ0mzZ8UvA&t=27s for advice how to install.

Will there be any support for software installation?

The SSI team will help with possible installation issues on your personal or workplace device. There will be open drop-in sessions hosted each week leading to the workshop.

Will I receive any evidence for attending the workshop?

Accepted Answer

Yes, certificates of attendance will be issued to those attending this workshop. Please input valid first name and surname during the registration, to simplify the task of issuing the certificate and ensuring you will obtain it within the next week after the workshop.
