About this event

  • 5 hours

Research can be a powerful tool for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations. It can help to shape services, inform funding bids, and provide a platform for your community to be heard. But how can groups get started, and how can we increase involvement within communities?

We warmly invite you to join us to discuss this theme in more detail at our free Research in Somerset: learning and networking event, as part of our work for the Somerset VCFSE Assembly.

About the event

At this one-day event, you will have the chance to:

  • Meet and network with diverse stakeholders from the Somerset VCFSE sector, health & social care, and local government
  • Hear from speakers with example projects
  • Discuss your experiences of research
  • Share your successes and challenges with research
  • Contribute to shaping future research in Somerset

There will also be an opportunity for groups to discuss other relevant themes during afternoon break-out sessions. These themes can be suggested during the registration process for the event.

Event speakers

We'll be joined by specialists and consultants from Somerset Council and NHS Foundation Trust, as well as experts and researchers from Research Your Way, University of West England, Onion Collective, NIHR Applied Research Collaboration South West Peninsula, Watchet & Quantocks Dementia Action Alliance and more. A detailed agenda and list of speakers will be available in due course.

Who's it for?

Tickets are available to members of volunteer, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) groups, health and social care workers, researchers, representatives from statutory bodies, and those that participated in the Somerset Research Engagement Network (REN) project, and include a free lunch.
