Over the past decade, research software has increasingly gained attention as a first-class research output globally.
The South African research software ecosystem has grown significantly through initiatives supported by the Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation, as well as global funders. Research software is being developed across the breadth of the research landscape, including astronomy, engineering, life sciences, health sciences, humanities and social sciences.
