Rewild Yourself

Step away from the everyday and spend a day reconnecting with nature through sound, movement, rhythm and deep listening in the Sussex countryside.Led by sound artist Hazel Reeves and natural art and music-maker Pat McKenna, Rewild Yourself is a unique opportunity to slow down, tune into the landscape and explore creative ways of connecting with nature – and with each other.With birdsong at the heart of the day, we'll move between the wild spaces of SMART Sheds and the barn, responding to the sights, sounds and rhythms we discover around us.

What to expect

• Wander through the Sheds site, listening for birdsong and recurring sounds in the landscape
• Explore gentle movement inspired by what we see and hear
• Discover natural objects and explore their possibilities for rhythm-making
• Experiment with sound, movement and rhythm together in the barn
• Experience nature soundscapes recorded by Hazel at SMART Sheds and beyond, including sounds from her Bird Hide installation

No two days at SMART Sheds are quite the same. The landscape, weather, wildlife and sounds we encounter will help shape our experience on the day.No previous experience is needed – just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

What to bringPlease wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for moving and exploring outdoors.Parts of the SMART Sheds site include small areas of woodland and scrubland, with uneven ground and plenty of nettles, so we recommend sturdy footwear and long clothing.
