Join the Ri demonstration team for an action packed lectures titled 'Energy Live' as we celebrate our Spring 2023 programme launch.

Be part of our Spring 2023 programme launch by joining our own Demo Team as they take you on a whistle stop tour of Energy Stores.Many of us think of energy with terms such as “Heat Energy” and “Gravitational Potential Energy”, but UK schools now teach the concept of Energy Stores. This show, developed by the Ri, is taken to schools across the UK and demonstrates how energy never changes, but can be stored in different ways. Through live demonstrations, the Team will show how energy can be stored in Gravitational, Magnetic, Elastic, Electrostatic, Nuclear, Kinetic, Thermal, and Chemical stores, and we’ll transfer that energy from one store to another in order to make things move or heat things up, maybe even both!Transferring energy from one store to another is a part of our everyday lives, but it is not always easy to recognize where all of the energy is being stored, before and after it’s useful to us. The live demonstrations aim to show the simplest of transfers, in increasingly dramatic ways.The team can’t do this on their own though, so there will be opportunities to volunteer and see first hand the power of energy stores. As always with the Demo Team, you can expect sparks to fly, plenty of fire, and the occasional explosion.This event is free for Ri members and patrons.
