Join us for the launch of ‘We Live in the Office’, a site-specific commission by Giles Round. Explore the repurposed Architecture Gallery as the multi-disciplinary artist Giles Round focuses our attention on one of the most familiar and unavoidable architectural features of the city: the façade.
We will be turning 66 Portland Place inside out with talks, films, workshops and activities working between graphics, design, art, architecture, interiors, and set design. Come to reimagine the ever-changing life of buildings! 
FULL PROGRAMME All events are free of charge and on a first-come, first-served basis unless stated otherwise. 
TALKS ‘Heroic Little Architectures’ by Adam Nathaniel Furman 6.30pm to 6.50pm, Jarvis Hall, Lower Ground Floor From the sensuousness of 50s Italian design to the blobby pinks of the 1990s and the puritanical black boxes of Apple’s products in the noughties, this talk explores the relationship between design and individual identity in a digitally saturated environment.
‘Beneath the Mask, Another Mask’ by Eddie Blake, Sam Jacob Studio 7pm to 7.20pm, Jarvis Hall, Lower Ground Floor A short talk on architecture and being Real.
'A Final Frolic in the Fallaciousness of Facades' by Maria Smith, Interrobang 7.30pm to 7.50pm, Jarvis Hall, Lower Ground Floor Some topics that this talk will cover include: science fiction, home brews, autotune, Walter Benjamin, post-truth politics, and the pill. Maria Smith is a director of Architecture and Engineering practice Interrobang and Creative Director of this year's RIBA Guerrilla Tactics conference, Super Models.
'The Creeping Plague of Ghastly Facadism' by The Gentle Author 8pm to 8.20pm, Jarvis Hall, Lower Ground Floor The Gentle Author presents a series of epic photographs of London's most spectacularly incongruous recent examples of Facadism.
For the last seven years, The Gentle Author has written daily about the culture of London and the East End at www.spitalfieldslife.com, and has published a series of bestselling books including 'The Gentle Author's London Album,' 'Spitalfields Nippers' and Colin O'Brien's 'London Life.' 
WORKSHOPS & ACTIVITIES Hands-On-Pattern workshop by PATTERNITY 7pm to 9pm, Florence Hall, First Floor Get hands on with the PATTERNITEAM and learn about the technique of block printing. Lose yourself in moments of rhythm and repetition creating unique block prints to take home with you.
The workshop is a drop-in session. Visitors to the exhibition will be invited to try the block printing technique with the option to collect their print at the end of the evening (once dry)
Reimagining 66 by RIBA Learning team 6pm to 9pm, Florence Hall, First Floor Help us rethink the RIBA's iconic headquarters from the outside-in. Be inspired by the exhibition and cut, paste and stick to add your vision for the RIBA to our fantastic facade. 
TOURS ‘The Block Shop’ by Mat Barnes, CAN and Nina Shen Poblete 6.30pm meet at reception, Ground Floor, 66 Portland Place Tour of the RIBA Regent Street Windows project installation at RIBA, 76 Portland Place by Mat Barnes of Critical Architecture Network and Nina Shen Poblete. The designers were inspired by the curatorial statement for the Giles Round exhibition which they used to create a ‘shop window’ at RIBA offices at 76 Portland Place. Building tours of 66 Portland Place 6.30pm to 7.15pm and 7.30pm to 8.15pm, sign up at reception, Ground Floor Discover the history, highlights and curiosities of our stunning Art Deco home completed in 1934. 
FILMS All films on loop between 6 to 9.45pm, Gallery, First floor landing
Conical Intersect, Gordon Matta-Clark (1975) This art work is an example of the artist's literal "de-construction" of existing structures to reveal hidden or unexpected urban narratives. The artist’s actions, Matta-Clark stated, provide "an alternative vocabulary with which to question the static, inert building environment."
Henry Moore: Wall Relief No.1 (1955) Surface is treated as sculpture in British sculptor, Henry Moore’s large wall relief in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. The project, pieced together with approximately 16,000 hand-carved Dutch bricks, stands as the sculptor's only work completed in the humble material. In a short documentary film produced by ARTtube, architectural historian Wouter Vanstiphout narrates the fascinating story behind Wall Relief No.1.
