<H2>Research Infrastructure on Consumer Health and Food Intake using E-science with Linked Data Sharing (RICHFIELDS) Final event</H2>
This event will bring together project partners and stakeholders, at the SQUARE in Brussels (BE) on 18th September, to discuss the outcomes of the project and how these support plans for a food, nutrition and health research infrastructure (FNH-RI).

Designing a world-class infrastructure to facilitate research and making “healthy choices the easy choices” requires knowledge about our dietary habits. This knowledge comes from analysing different types of information such as what food and beverages we are buying, preparing and eating, where we eat them and with whom. New ICT technologies bring opportunities for researchers to monitor and collect information on these behaviours. Every day, consumers and businesses generate big data – large volumes of information that offer detailed descriptions of our behaviours, including time and place. If these data-rich sources could be linked and analysed, they have the potential to contribute greatly to understanding societal challenges around food and health (e.g., obesity, cardiovascular disease, sustainability). RICHFIELDS aimed to design a consumer-data platform to connect, compare and share information about food behaviours, revolutionising research on everyday choices made across Europe. RICHFIELDS has sought to determine what facilities, resources and services can support research to learn more about what we choose to eat, and how and why we make those choices.

FNH-RI aims to develop a top-level e-research infrastructure that enables scientists to link and exploit public-, private- and citizen-generated research data. This will be achieved through a series of measuring including new and advanced tools for data generation, and harmonisation and/ or standardisation data, enabling improved sharing of data and supporting information. FNH-RI will provide scientific services that enable users – including policy-makers, government, NGOs, food industries large and small (SMEs), farmers and consumers – to make informed decisions and choices, supporting health and a more sustainable society.
