RIIO-2 Sector Specific Methodology consultation workshop

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator.We work to protect energy consumers, especially vulnerable people, by ensuring they are treated fairly and benefit from a cleaner, greener environment.We are responsible for:working with government, industry and consumer groups to deliver a net-zero economy, at the lowest cost to consumersstamping out sharp and bad practice, ensuring fair treatment for all consumers, especially the vulnerableenabling competition and innovation, which drives down prices and results in new products and services for consumers.

Ofgem set price controls for the companies that operate the gas and electricity networks in Great Britain (GB) using the RIIO Framework. RIIO involves setting Revenue using Incentives to deliver Innovation and Outputs.
In July 2018, we issued our decision on the RIIO-2 Framework. In this consultation, we provide more detail on how we propose to apply this framework in each of the sectors that have their next price control starting in 2021. These controls will apply to the companies that operate the gas distribution, gas transmission, electricity transmission networks and the electricity system operator.
To find out what it means, and to discover what we’re consulting on, join us at our workshop on 25th January 2019. 
Ofgem’s RIIO team will outline the main proposals of the RIIO-2 Sector specific methodology consultation as well as a detailed Q&A session. You’ll have an opportunity for debate and discuss our plans throughout the day as we seek your feedback.
