Risk Assessments - Embedding effective risk management systems in residential settings to keep children safe is everyone’s responsibility, especially for those of us who work with children and young people in care. This training provides a comprehensive understanding of Risk Assessment. Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility and this is especially true for those of us who work with children and young people in care.Children in care are additionally vulnerable. They are at greater risk of going missing, of being sexually exploited and of being drawn into crime. Yet the requirements Ofsted most frequently make when they inspect children’s homes, are about risk management; in particular making sure that providers are writing appropriate risk assessments for children.Risk assessing forms a vital part of keeping the children in our care safe, but with little guidance out there about how to do this effectively, it can be a challenge to know that we are getting it right, and that risk assessments are actually helping to keep children safe.Join us for this workshop where we will explore the essential elements of an effective risk assessment. We aim for leaders of children’s homes to leave this virtual classroom feeling confident in their approach to risk management, but most importantly, with risk assessing that works best for the children they care for.Delivery - The virtual classroom is hosted on Zoom. Participants need access to a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, a quiet and private space to join from, and to have made sure they can access Zoom. Participants will achieve by attending these sessions and ensure they link to relevant regulations.Learning Outcomes· Confidence in risk assessing.· Understanding how to ensure risk assessments are dynamic in nature.· Knowing and complying with the regulatory exceptions.· Understanding the risks of being risk averse.· Having practical approaches to risk management systems.· A firm knowledge of ethnics in risk assessing.
