Is your board’s appetite for risk more like a Rich Tea biscuit - plain, dry and safe - or a Tunnock’s Tea Cake - a messy, sticky treat that might collapse but is far more exciting?

Are trustees too cautious, too slow, too stuck in the past? Or is that perception unfair?

Maybe we’re not risk-averse, just risk-aware.   Does a technicoloured risk register really help anyone understand what's actually at stake?

This session explores the fine line between healthy caution and unhelpful fear. You’ll hear from trustees and risk experts who’ve tackled risk in bold, creative, and strategic ways - what paid off, what flopped and what they learned along the way.

Expect practical insights and some gentle provocation to help you move beyond tick-box risk registers and towards more meaningful, strategic risk conversations.

This is a great session for all trustees. No experience of risk management is required.

Brought to you by Eastside People as part of the Festival of Trusteeship during Trustees' Week 2025, with headline support from the Institute of Leadership.
