Riso Print Workshop
Try riso printing! Make bold two-colour collage prints and explore colour, pattern, and layering.
Looking for something special to do with your mum for Mother’s Day? 🌸
Why not spend it getting creative together in this hands-on risograph printing workshop — a thoughtful gift and a lovely way to share some quality time.
Come and try risograph printing as you create vibrant riso prints using two-layer paper collages. You’ll choose two ink colours and explore how patterns and shapes layer and interact on the page. We’ll introduce the riso machine, show you how it works, and guide you through the full process — no experience needed.
Originally developed in Japan in the 1980s, risograph printing is loved for its bold colours, textured finish, and playful imperfections. The inks are soy-based, making them a more planet-friendly printing option.
Riso works in a way that’s similar to screen printing: each colour is printed separately using a stencil (called a master), with the paper passing through the machine once per colour to build up the final image through layers. Every print is slightly different, so part of the fun is embracing the unexpected. 🌀🌈
Feel free to bring along any drawings, images, or materials you’d like to include in your collage for printing.
Venue accessibility: The venue is a ground-floor, accessible space, with an accessible toilet available via the rear entrance.
