Learn how to use Risograph printing at Print Collective’s DIY studio at Middle Turf in Croydon!

After running induction sessions for our Risograph machines in early May we've had requests for Open Access sessions, so we are combining our final session at the end of May!

Sunday 24th of May - 2 sessions running along side each other

12 - 3 pm- induction session

12 - 5 pm - open access

12-3PM IS INDUCTION (begginers) & 12-5PM IS OPEN ACCESS (you have been before)

Running schedules:

Induction session - 12-3PM, 3 HOURS

12pm - 12.15pm - arrival and introductions

12.15 - 12.30pm - explaining the riso process

12.30 -1.30pm - designing your print

1.30 - 2.30pm - printing

2.30- 3.00pm - sharing our work and check out!

Open access - 12-5PM, 5 HOURS /drop in

If you are coming to Open Access you can arrive at anytime between 12-5pm, but please bear in mind the Induction session’s printing times above. If you have something ready to print, we would advise arriving at the start of the session. We can use your print to demonstrate and then you can get on with your printing while the induction groups create their work.

2.30 - 4.45pm - free use of riso machine

4.45 - 5pm - start wrapping up

Key Info

• Please note Middle Turf is at 390 London Road - NOT the same location as Turf in Whiftgift! We are a 20 min walk away, straight down london road from West Croydon station.

• This session is open to anyone who has little/no riso experience but would like to learn, or freshen up their skills.
  
• After your induction, you'll be able to attend our 'open access days' to print and experiment further.
  
• Your fee pays for a 2-colour Risograph print (5-10 copies), materials, ink and for the facilitator's time, and helps us make a contribution to artist-run space Turf (where our studio is located).
  
• You can split the cost with up to 2 people if you're working on something together. However, if your friend wants to come and print something of their own, they should register and pay separately.
  
• If you want to use more than 2 colours/masters in your print, please bring extra cash (£3-6 per A4 master, £5-10 per A3 master, priced on a sliding scale of what you can afford). We can take pay via app/card but cash is welcome.
  
• If you would like to print more copies we can do so for an extra fee (2-20p depending on paper type). If you have a specific paper in mind please bring it with you (100-200gsm) but inductions are a group session so please be aware of this impact on printing time and be realistic with how many you want to print - once you have done an induction you are welcome to book in solo sessions to print specifc work and larger zines/runs of posters.
  
• If you are printing a pre-made design, either bring it already printed on the day or email it to us 24 hours in advance (i.e. the design you'd like to riso print).

We also have pens and collage materials so you can experiment on the day!

Cancellations

If you register and then realise you can't make it, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite at least 4 days before, or email us so we can open up your place to someone else. Please note that the booking fee to Eventbrite is non-refundable.

Our current studio is located at Middle Turf, 390 London Road, Croydon, CR0 2SW.

There will be a sign on the door.

It's a 15-minute walk from the M&S end of the Whitgift Centre / West Croydon station.

Good to Know

Both of our machines (A4 and A3 Riso printers) are secondhand and like all Risos, they act up sometimes. We'll do our best to mitigate any issues but there can be hiccups on the day. Our A4 printer currently only prints black but is good for text over designs.
