Rockpool Safari - Boggle Hole

The tides are extremely low so get ready for a rockpool safari with a difference. We’ll take you on an exploration of the shore as we search for marine life which is only uncovered on a very low tide. Discover kelp forests, look out for lobsters and seek out sea urchins.

This event is funded by River Esk Connect (REConnect) - a community engagement project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, based around the River Esk and its coastal streams.

Please note, children must be supervised by an adult throughout the event.

Embrace your wild side - what to expect:

This event is suitable for families. The event will involve walking over uneven ground on the rocky shore and on slippery surfaces.

What to bring/wear

This event takes place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! Please ensure to wear suitable footwear and to bring waterproof clothing. We will be walking through rockpools so waterproof shoes are required - wellies would be best.

Toilets and catering

Please be aware that Yorkshire Wildlife Trust do not have facilities at Boggle Hole. However, there is a cafe and toilets at YHA Boggle Hole.

Joining us on the day

Please meet outside YHA Boggle Hole, Mill Beck, Whitby, YO22 4UQ.

Parking

There is free parking on Mill Bank, just before you reach YHA Boggle Hole.
