Roda De Samba
Roda De Samba
Bristol Encontro presents: Bloco B & Friends
Roda de Samba – Carnival Special
Join us this Carnival season for a lively Roda de Samba at The Fleece on Sunday 15th February 2026, 5–10pm.
Rooted in the streets, bars and backyards of Rio de Janeiro, the roda de samba is a core part of samba culture, with musicians gathering in the round to share rhythms and songs passed down through generations. This Bristol Encontro session brings that tradition to Bristol, with members of Bloco B alongside friends, live percussion, cavaquinho, vocals and swinging grooves inspired by Brazilian Carnival.
Ilu Axé will be joining the roda with music rooted in Salvador, Bahia, drawing on Afro-Brazilian rhythms and traditions from the north-east of Brazil, while Simbora bring Rio-style samba, steeped in the classic sounds of the roda and samba de raiz. Throughout the night, DJ RobertoC will be playing Brazilian music to keep the flow moving between sets.
There’ll also be Brazilian food from Marmita Da Mamys, serving up home-style dishes to keep you going.
This event is a warm-up ahead of Tambor in April, before Bristol Encontro returns to The Louisiana in May, with more events planned across the rest of the year.
