Portrait of the Artist As a Viable Alternative to Death, published by Maudlin House, is a book which explores the dark ruminations of The Artist. His work, his motivations, his relationships, and his unswerving commitment to the cause of Art. From the light and flippant, to the truly dark, the book explores “the unlimited possibilities and mysteries around us” (Martin MacInnes, Infinite Ground), is “exhaustingly beautiful” (Ross Sutherland, Emergency Window), and narrated by someone equal parts “superior, stubborn, contrarian, petty, boastful, livid, contradictory, insecure, lonely, yowlingly funny and wrenchingly tragic.” (Rachel McCrum, Do Not Alight Here Again)

About the Author  Ross McCleary is from Edinburgh. He has had stories and poems published widely in print and online. He has had a pamphlet published by Spacecraft Press. He is one of the organisers of spoken word night Inky Fingers. He is the editor of podcast journal Lies, Dreaming.
