Overview

A NIGHT OF QUEER DISABLED PERFORMANCE AND LAUNCH OF ROTTEN VOL.1

ROTTEN CRIP IMAGININGS

Rotten is a crip collective of disabled artists wanting to create a space for crippled/disabled/neurodiverse/mad people to meet together, talk and create and this event explores the disabled right to get F*cked up and Nasty!

A NIGHT OF QUEER DISABLED PERFORMANCE AND LAUNCH OF ROTTEN VOL.1

come all to shake your bones, tap your sticks, rev your wheels and sit yourself down to watch a night of disabled queer performance and music

We have a live durational performance from Néa Ishana Ranganathan. Their practice centres the documentation of Tamil homeland through participatory land-based mapping and broken translation. He is interested in sculpting with bodies in colonial landscapes and divided waters as a way of imagining moments for ancestral grief and radical futurism. Néa makes site-responsive work in the curatorship duo shelf/break, which invites and hosts transitional spaces for emerging artists through intimate moments of community.

And taking to the stage we have:

Shikhandi , a bharatanatyam dancer (traditional Indian dance form), performing a dance to the Mahishasuramardini stotram, a prayer in praise of Goddess Durga defeating a demon.

X.O clowning around and dragging it up

Tall child , a South East London based musician of Nigerian/Indian heritage paving the way for black artists in the indie music scene, exploring their identity as a disabled POC through honest lyricism and dreamy music.

MY PUSSY TASTES LIKE MICROPLASTICS bringing us a tribute to disabled artist Katherine Araniello, as well as an entourage of loud crip wonder

And finally, Herman's military antiques bringing the bang and the crash and boom - eclectic and wonderful!

we will also be launching ROTTEN vol.1 :crip imaginings - a culmination of our workshops and research in our residence in pie house for the past few months . Exploring crip theory and community through creative speculative ways. 64 pages of full colour crip art work, essays, short stories exploring crip utopias and beasts .

We will also have ZINE BOX facilitating queer made zines for free/low cost.

BSL interpreter + live captioning TBC please email if you have any access concerns - a member of our core team is a native signer.
