    Want to keep fit, make new friends, and gain new skills in your spare time? Get a taste of life as a Royal Navy Reservist at our free Royal Naval Reserve Experience on 27/06/2024. Spaces are limited, so make sure you register your interest in plenty of time.

    Your HMS Hibernia Experience Day will be made up of, the Initial Maritime Reserves Presentation (IMRP) followed by an interactive Q&A session hosted by serving members of the RNR. They will provide details about entry requirements, the recruitment pipeline and share their own experiences of navigating the joining process. After this brief, the team will take you on a tour of HMS Hibernia, the home of the Royal Navy in Northern Ireland.

    As well as learning about the different branches and specialisations of the Royal Naval Reserve, you’ll get the chance to:

    • Learn more about the Royal Naval Reserve during a presentation led by the unit

    • Participate in damage control, firefighting, and seamanship practical activities

    • Handle the latest operational weapons

    There will be the opportunity to mingle with serving reservists and get your questions answered.

    What do you need to do?

    Once registered you will receive an email within 48 hours and will be required to provide your full name, date of birth and address in order to be registered with the Thiepval Barracks Security Lodge. If this information is not supplied access to the event will be denied.

    Please arrive no later than 1930hrs BST and ensure that you bring photographic ID, passport is preferred. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. HMS HIBERNIA is based in a secure MoD establishment, and you should be prepared to have your bag, coat or jacket searched upon entry and exit.

    About the Royal Naval Reserve

    The Royal Naval Reserve is the volunteer force of the Royal Navy. With a basic commitment of 24 days a year, you’ll take part in training exercises, defence drills and adventure activities, often overseas. You could even be mobilised for an operational tour of duty.

    You'll develop skills that will benefit your career, experience adventures you couldn't have anywhere else, and serve your community – all alongside your day job.
