Ruido

The Festival of Arts and Humanities is a new festival held in and around the University of Sheffield designed to showcase the expertise and research of members of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and engage students, staff and the public in their work.

Conversation. Is it this that makes us human? That separates us from our primal ancestors? Or separates us from each other? Ruido is a dance theatre piece by solo artist Lucy Haighton exploring language, translation and communication barriers. The piece was developed over a 6-month research project funded by Arts Council England, where Lucy collaborated with community groups, academics from the University of Sheffield and sound artist Alejandro Albornoz to create an original piece of dance theatre. 
The performance will be followed by a conversation between Lucy and the academics involved in the project.
Please note that access to the venue is by c.30 fairly steep concrete stairs.
