RUMA, the Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture Alliance, is pleased to announce it will be holding a conference, in association with the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), on October 27th at the J.Sainsbury’s Conference Centre, Holborn, London.

The conference will be a key event to mark RUMA’s 20th Anniversary. The programme, which is currently being finalised, will be released as soon as possible. It will follow up on the successful conference held in November 2015 and will address key subjects relating to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), but specifically antibiotic resistance, from an animal but also human medicine perspective:

Speakers, Chairs and panellists already confirmed will include:

  • Lord Gardiner - Parliamentary Under Secretary of State - Defra
  • Gwyn Jones – Chairman of RUMA
  • Professor Nigel Gibbens MRCVS- Chief Veterinary Officer (UK)
  • Professor Pete Borriello - Chief Executive Officer, VMD
  • Professor Paul Cosford – Director of Health Protection, Public Health England
  • Professor Christianne Glossop MRVCS, CVO Wales – representing the devolved CVOs
  • Catherine McLaughlin – Chair - RUMA Independent Scientific group.
  • Plus leading representatives from all the food animal sectors. t.b.c.

This will be an interactive conference event and there will be significant time for delegates to engage in Q&A sessions with the speakers and the panellists.

The conference will be of interest to anyone involved with, or interested in, the use of medicines and specifically antibiotics in food producing animals – farmers, vets, SQPs (Suitably Qualified Persons), food processors, quality standard managers, politicians, regulators, food retailers, consumer groups, animal health companies and the media.

Attendance at the conference will cost £150 (no VAT). To register your attendence please submit your registration via this Eventbrite page.
