Safe & Strong Shoulder Stand Workshop with Laura

Wednesday 7 January 2026 · 6:45–8:15pm · Koko Studio**

Laura is an experienced Ashtanga practitioner and teacher with a background in dance, somatic enquiry and philosophy.
Her teaching blends technical clarity with breath awareness and reflective space, helping each student find balance, strength and curiosity in their practice.

In this workshop, Laura will guide you through one of yoga’s most powerful inversions — shoulder stand.
It is a deeply restorative posture when done safely, but it requires the right preparation, alignment and mindset.

Shoulder stand is deeply restorative when done safely,
but it requires the right preparation and alignment.
We’ll focus on protecting the neck, creating a strong shoulder base,
learning safe entry and exit, and exploring accessible variations.

Laura’s support in balancing postures is exceptional — her approach is grounded, intelligent and incredibly safe.
If shoulder stand has ever felt scary or unstable, this session will give you the confidence and tools to approach it with clarity and ease.
You’ll learn how to prepare the body properly, how to build strength through accessible variations, and how to find a version of the posture that feels both safe and empowering.

This workshop is suitable for:
✨ Those who have never felt comfortable attempting shoulder stand
✨ Practitioners who “can do it” but sometimes feel pressure in the neck
✨ Students who want to refine their technique and understand the mechanics more deeply
✨ Anyone looking to explore inversions in a safe, supportive environment

Even if you already practise shoulder stand regularly, this is a chance to slow down, refine your alignment, and learn how to protect your neck and upper spine long-term.
It’s one of those postures that can feel completely different — and far more nourishing — once you understand the subtleties.

You’ll leave with:
✔ A clear sense of how to prepare for shoulder stand safely
✔ Practical techniques to reduce strain on the neck
✔ Variations you can use in any class
✔ A deeper understanding of how to stabilise your base and breathe with ease
✔ More confidence, more curiosity, and a more sustainable personal practice
