Finally, some good news for sailing members! Due to the easing of Government restrictions a number of outdoor recreational activities and sports including sailing are permitted from 1st April 2021.The Clubhouse will remain closed but outdoor facilities access will be permitted to the boat park for members to work on their boats to prepare for the start of the season, which will be subject to a maximum of two households (not exceeding 10 people) in each zone, and only where 2m social distancing measures and compliance with strict club Covid protocols can be adhered to at all times.Recreational sailing will also be permitted for a maximum up to 10 people from a maximum of two households only, provided they are in separate distinct groups within the dinghy and slipway area.With this in mind the slipway will be available for use by members, however due to the continued restrictions on numbers and group sizes sessions must be pre booked via the website.https://www.carrickfergussc.org/back-to-sailing/Please be safe and conservative as it’s quite a while since anyone has been on the water regularly and safety both ashore and on the water is the most important thing.What’s allowed from 1st April?	• Recreational sailing only - no organised training or racing is permitted	• A maximum of 10 members on site from 2 households only (i.e. 2 families)	• The groups must remain separate when on site and rig/de rig in separate areas	• Effectively this allows for single handed sailing or multi crewed boat within your own householdKey Points to note	• REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR DISTANCE	• NO RESCUE COVER IS AVAILABLE	• NO TOILET OR CHANGING FACILITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE	• TELL AT LEAST ONE OTHER PERSON THAT YOU ARE GOING SAILING AND WHEN YOU WILL BE BACK	• REMEMBER IT’S APRIL, THE WATER IS STILL VERY COLD AND THE WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE VERY QUICKLYWho can go sailing?	• Experienced sailors with their own equipment	• Single handed and double handed dinghies (only to be sailed by a members of the same household)	• Sailors U16 must have a parent/guardian on the water with them in the same boat or a support boat.	• We recommend that you carry a charged mobile phone or VHF in a suitable sealed containerWhen can I go sailing and do I need to book?	• The first sessions will be available for booking from Thursday 1st April	• YES - YOU NEED TO BOOK VIA THE WEBSITE LINK ABOVE	• Sessions will be limited to 2 hours (to include rigging &amp; de rigging)What Facilities will be provided?	• There will be no changing facilities, sailors should arrive changed for the water	• There will be no toilet facilities	• There will be hand sanitizer available in the boat park, but please bring your own just in case	• Bring your own drinks and a snacks you may requireWhere can I go sailing?	• Boats can be rigged in the dinghy park zone and launched/recovered from the slipway.	• Do not use other boat park areasRemember to maintain 2m meters social distance and that you should avoid touching other people’s boats and equipment	• All sailors should stay close to shore and within line of sight of the clubhouse at all timesBefore you book or go sailing ask yourself.	1. Can I safely travel to the club?Only travel with members of your household	2. Can I sail within my ability in the current conditions?Check the forecast and tide	3. Is my boat/equipment prepared?Do not put yourself and others at risk because you ‘meant to change a fitting’.Do you have a paddle with you to assist your launch &amp; recovery?	4. Am I wearing the right equipment for the conditions?Is my buoyancy aid secure and in good condition?	5.  Are you capable of recovering from a capsize and making it back to shore without assistance?Are you 100% sure?
