Still in its original 1806 building, the Portico Library celebrates both the historic and the contemporary culture of Manchester, welcoming the public, researchers and members to its unique 19th-century book collection and 21st-century events and exhibitions.

Someone, I tell you, in another time will remember us: An Evening of Lesbian Verse

Join us for an evening of poetry and community discussion as we celebrate the legacy of Sappho and the vibrant voices of contemporary Lesbian poets.Event Schedule :4:30 PM- Doors Open5 PM - Welcome attendees and overview of the evening's program, highlighting the significance of Sappho's poetry and the importance of providing a platform for Lesbian poets.5:15 PM - Readings Begin6 PM - Community Discussion: Attendees are encouraged to engage in a discussion about the impact of writing about identity experiences of Lesbian poets in today's literary landscape. We are looking in advance for 2-3 poets to read at this event. This is an event to celebrate and share poetry and other writings from local lesbian writers.
