Overview

Sashiko workshop to mend and strengthen your clothes. Learn simple stitching in a calm, supportive space. Materials included.

Introduction to Sashiko Mending Workshop

Join us on March 21st, 2:00–4:30pm at Materialise Lab at Blue Garage for a hands-on Introduction to Sashiko workshop.

This practical session will introduce you to Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique used to strengthen, repair, and beautifully extend the life of clothing. Using simple running stitches, you’ll learn how to mend and reinforce garments in a way that is both functional and decorative.

The workshop takes place in a relaxed, calm, and supportive environment — a space to slow down, focus, and enjoy the rhythm of stitching alongside others. No prior experience is needed.

Please bring a woven item to repair — such as a cotton shirt, jeans, or a denim jacket.
(Stretchy fabrics, woollens, and heavily embellished garments aren’t suitable for this session.)

All other Sashiko tools and basic materials are provided.

The workshop is hosted by Mads Do & Mend CIC.

Come stitch, repair, and reconnect with your clothes and your community
