Enjoy this Greyhope Bay workshop where Fiona Hall of Camban Studio will introduce you to Sashiko stitch to make your own patchwork and boro inspired table coaster.
About the workshop:
Sashiko is a Japanese folk craft that is hundreds of years old with roots in practicality. Sashiko means “little stabs”, and that perfectly describes the stitch.
In this workshop Fiona will take you through the basics of Sashiko stitching, showing how the technique can be used to attach repurposed fabric scraps together to create a patchwork design, then construct our pieces into a finished item for your home.
The slow, meditative process of forming one stitch at a time is very calming so Sashiko can be perfect for relaxing self-care & quiet time.
About the artist:
Fiona Hall started her business Camban Studio to share her passion for design, colour, texture, print, pattern, beautiful materials and the natural beauty of her home landscape in Scotland. She has a strong interest in how craft and better connections with our natural environments can help with personal wellbeing.
After graduating from The Glasgow School of Art in Product Design, she then went on to train as a Jeweller. Working from her studio at Deemouth Artist Studios, Aberdeen, she has now returned to a childhood love of textiles and hand stitch.
Alongside her studio practice, Fiona works at a local University working on projects to promote and support positive wellbeing.
