Overview

Discover the incredible lost art of Somers Town at this evening workshop event.

Printmaking workshop with a difference - help restore working class ceramic heritage that has been lost to the area.

Learn all about 1930s artist Gilbert Bayes' 'Art in Everyday life' work in St Pancras Housing and our campaign and heritage trail to restore this to the area it was intended for.

Celebrate our two new acquisitions the Blackbirds!

Background to Save our Art

Somers Town has been called the 'fairy tale district' - join us for a guided walk and workshop around the history of this art - finials and lunettes based on folk tales... Hans Christian Anderson, the Brothers Grimm, and saints stories St Nicholas, St Anthony.

'Stolen art back from the USA '- Camden New Journal February 2023

Art in everyday life was said of Gilbert Bayes, the artist who created art based fairy tales on walls, ships, birds nursery rhymes and saints' stories on drying posts on washing, for St Pancras Housing in the 1930s.

How this supports Save our Art?

We appreciate donations to contribute to our fund to campaign to replace the sadly damaged and missing finals. We have restored the broken St Antony of Padua statuette and restituted four finials

Our aims is to complete a display of all examples of the missing coturyard finials to restore this district its 'art in everyday life'!

You can purchase your artwork - with a donation of £25.

OFFER: with a ticket books are at £9 - usually £15!

For why shouldn't ordinary people have art?

Low cost options available. Please email info@aspaceforus.club
