This workshop will reveal the power of Minecraft in developing and testing world-improving creative ideas! You’ll explore how to create and control objects in Minecraft using the programming language Python. Harness your creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to make a difference using the exciting world of Minecraft.

Each session takes 2 hours. Sign up for one of two sessions on Tuesday 28th October:

  • 10:00-12:00 (ages 7-12)
  • 13:00-15:00 (ages 13-17)

What you’ll do

Join other future heroes to:

  • Work as a team to tackle a problem
  • Write some Python code in Minecraft
  • Have fun!

Who’s this for?

Our 10am session is open to 7-12 year olds

Our 1pm session is open to 13-17 year olds

What do you need to bring?

All equipment is provided. All you need to bring is a sparkling can-do attitude!

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Every under 12 booking automatically grants entry to an accompanying adult. Due to venue size, we ask that you don't bring more grown-ups or non-participating siblings so that everyone has plenty of room to create!

Cost

This event is free to attend. We charge a £3 booking fee, which is refunded on attending the event. Or, if you prefer, you can leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, please email office@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.

About the facilitator

Alan O’Donohoe is Exa Foundation’s Specialist Leader in Education. With over 20 years of experience teaching Computing and Technology in Secondary Schools, Alan now leads the Exa Foundation’s STEM enrichment programme, which inspires and engages audiences through a year-round programme of community events, workshops, and computing activities.
