Event description

Description

Join us at 7pm on Tuesday, 11th April at Novi Espresso and Cocktail Bar on Cambridge’s Regent Street for a special SciBarHealth event hosted by Cambridge British Science Association and Cambridge University Health Partners to mark World Parkinson's Disease Day and Parkinson's Awareness Week. SciBar brings interesting, topical areas of science to the general public with scientific talks followed by lively discussion.

We have two speakers eminent in their fields, Dr Roger Barker sees and manages patients with Parkinson’s Disease as well as running a large research clinic in which he sees any patients with Parkinson's Disease interested in research and new drug trials. He will talk about what is Parkinson's Disease, is it one disorder or several that look similar and what new therapies are emerging to treat it, such as stem cells?

Our second speaker, Dr Nushan Gunawardana, is a neurology registrar at Addenbrooke's Hospital and will speak about what goes wrong in cells in Parkinson's Disease?

Entry is FREE and refreshments are available to purchase at the bar downstairs. Pre-book your place - limited tickets available on the door.
