<H3>The Future Economy Network are excited to welcome Carbon Credentials, Pukka, Bioregional and subscribers CarbonLens to speak about Science Based Targets.</H3>
 
Emma Watson, Senior Consultant at Carbon Credentials, will cover the fundamental basics of Science Based Targets. What are they? Why do we need them? This talk will also cover crucial information on how companies are setting their Science Based Targets, and what others can do to successfully follow suit whilst maintaining business growth.
Matt Wood, Energy and Carbon Manager at Bioregional, will discuss their case study with Kingfisher. Bioregional helped Kingfisher create an ambitious, customer-focused sustainability leadership strategy by setting stretching targets and tracking the progress. In 2018, Kingfisher launched its sustainable growth plan: a roadmap up to 2025 that sets out the next stage to becoming a ‘net positive’ company. Bioregional led the development of a new set of targets that respond to customer insights research as well as tackle key sustainability issues.
Vicky Murray, Sustainability Manager at Pukka Herbs will discuss the lessons learnt on their journey to setting science-based carbon reduction targets. Pukka Herbs is an organic herbal wellbeing company and is a beacon for sustainable and ethical business. All Pukka’s teas are certified organic by the Soil Association as well as Fair for Life, one of the highest independent fair trade standards in the world. Pukka is a B Corp, signifying its ongoing commitment to support conservation through commerce. And over one percent of its sales are given to environmental causes around the world every year through 1% for the Planet.
Simon Forsyth, Director at Carbon Lens, will be asking "What about Scope 3 Emissions?" Scope 3 emissions often dominate a carbon footprint - so it is misleading to omit them. But what exactly are they? And how do you include them in your targets - your science-based targets?

Matt Wood, Energy and Carbon Manager, <A HREF="https://www.bioregional.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bioregional</A>
Matt Wood is the Energy and Carbon Manager at Bioregional, a charity with 25 years’ experience supporting organisations, including businesses, developers and local authorities, to become more sustainable.
He’s helped retailers and developers create energy and carbon strategies across their property portfolios, including global home improvement company Kingfisher. Kingfisher recently had its science-based targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) with the support of Bioregional.
With a PhD in physics, Matt started his career in the energy and innovation sector, primarily working with community groups and local authorities to install renewables and develop energy-efficiency schemes. He has also continued this work at Bioregional.
 
Dr Simon Russell Forsyth, Director, <A HREF="https://carbonlens.systems/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CarbonLens</A> Simon stumbled into environmental management in 1989 by offering to look after a paper recycling bin. After that, things rather ran away with themselves. He helped set up the Green Teams at Hewlett Packard in Bristol, ran them for five years, then became HP Ltd’s full-time environmental specialist. He left in 2000 to run a small consultancy, went on to run the Econet in-work training project, helped deliver the southwest-wide Envision programme, established a number of Resource Efficiency Clubs for small businesses, trained a lot of Trading Estates, and now focuses on the business linkages between cost-intensity, carbonintensity, and becoming more profitable. To condense all this into something usable, he produces simplifying software – the dataCollator.
 
Emma Watson, Senior Consultant, <A HREF="https://carboncredentials.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Carbon Credentials</A>
Emma is a Senior Consultant within Carbon Credentials' Strategy, Reporting and Engagement team and is the technical lead on science-based targets. She has extensive knowledge of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Scope 3 Standard, and the various requirements of the Science Based Targets initiative and associated methodologies. Emma has experience setting science-based targets for clients in the herbal tea, retail, real estate, construction, professional services, telecommunications, and manufacturing sectors. Most notably, Emma led the team who assisted Tesco in setting its 1.5-degree science-based target, which was the first of its kind to be approved by the SBTi. 
 
Vicky Murray, Sustainability Manager, <A HREF="https://www.pukkaherbs.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pukka Herbs</A>
Vicky leads the development of Pukka’s Regenerative Health sustainability strategy and its delivery across the business, including the development of our science-based carbon reduction targets. Pukka is also a certified B Corp – a growing global movement of companies demonstrating business as a force for good. Vicky manages Pukka’s B Corp Business Impact Assessment certification process and has jumped with both feet into the B Corp movement. She has been instrumental in driving positive change across Pukka, working collaboratively with colleagues across Pukka teams, suppliers and partners.
Prior to joining Pukka, Vicky was Head of Sustainability at Neal’s Yard Remedies (NYR) for three years. Just like Pukka, NYR pioneers standards for sustainability including Fair for Life and FairWild, as well as organic herbal supply chains.
