Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution is an independent treasure existing for the promotion of science, literature and art in the city of Bath and surrounding areas. T﻿his year, 2024, marks our 200th anniversary and we have a packed programme of events to share with everyone!BRLSI is non profit making and provides world class lectures for as little as £3 a ticket. Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution

For many decades science has been contributing more to advances in philosophical understanding than the humanities. The talk this evening makes the case that philosophy needs to rely more on the sciences and less on ancient authority. New understanding has come from evolutionary biology, genetics, neuroscience, operational research, quantitative optimisation methods, decision theory, stochastic models, simulation, game theory, memetics and other fields.
