Screen Print Crash Course

Cobalt StudiosShieldfield, England
Friday, Mar 20 from 6 pm to 9 pm GMT
Overview

Learn how to screen print using your own artwork or design, then print it by hand using a rubber squeegee!

Screen Print Crash Course

Friday 20th March

6pm til 9pm

Tutor : Nick

Address : 10-16 Boyd Street, Studio 4, Cobalt Studios, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE2 1AP

The screen print crash course is designed to give beginners, or those looking to refresh, an easy introduction to the art of screen printing.

This session will cover the process of photo emulsion screen printing, which involved coating a screen with photo sensitive emulsion, Once the screen is dry, it can have a digital or hand drawn image exposed onto the light sensitive surface. You will be invited to bring a digital image, be it a drawing, photograph, piece of text or design, which we will then digitally manipulate, and print onto acetate for the next step.

Using UV light, we will expose the image onto the screen like a photograph, and wash out the image with water. This produces a stencil upon the mesh of the screen, which we will print ink through by hand, using a rubber squeegee. You will be able to print a short run of prints onto paper, to take home at the end of the session.

Nick will explain the possibilities of screen printing and its applications. This course is suitable for complete beginners, those who wish to gain the ability to screen print on their own, and those wishing to set up a screen printing station at home
