Overview

A working session on what separates a script that gets read from one that gets made.

Script Surgery: Is Your Script Ready?

Most scripts don't fail because the writing is bad. They fail because something between the page and the market hasn't been resolved — a voice that's been sanded down, a structure that sags in the middle, a project that nobody can quite place.

Script Surgery is a live, hour-long session with writers, script editors and development professionals on what actually makes a script ready to go out. We'll work through four things:

Authenticity and voice. Finding and protecting a distinct voice — and writing lived experience without flattening it for someone else's comfort.

Craft and structure. Premise, dramatic engine, character, pacing, dialogue. The work that has to hold before anything else matters.

Commercial viability and audience. How originality, genre and audience shape a script's chances with buyers — and what that means for how you pitch it.

Financing and packaging. The route from finished script to funded production: funding options, what a package needs to attract finance, and where a writer's rights and money sit.

The session runs live with time for audience questions. Bring the problem you're actually stuck on.

Live online, with audience Q&A. Hosted by Akua Gyamfi.
